How to make a product demo video worth watching
Start with the outcome, choose one path, use believable sample data and record in three short beats.

01. Start with the outcome.
Write one sentence that describes what the viewer will be able to do. For example: “Turn a long list of tasks into a focused weekly plan.” Open the video with that outcome on screen, then show how you got there.
02. Choose one path through the product.
A useful demo is not a feature inventory. Pick the shortest route from a familiar problem to a satisfying result. Keep advanced settings and edge cases for separate recordings.
03. Prepare a believable example.
Use a small, fictional workspace with names and data that make sense. Remove personal information, confidential tabs, and notifications. Place the relevant app where it will be easy to read.
04. Record in three short beats.
First, show the outcome. Second, walk through the two or three actions that create it. Third, return to the result and name the next step. A simple structure makes it easier to spot what to trim.
05. Review like a first-time viewer.
Watch the recording once without sound. Can you tell what changed? Then listen without looking. Does the narration explain why the action matters? If either version is confusing, simplify before adding visual polish.
06. Finish with one invitation.
Give the viewer a specific next step: try the feature, read the guide, or send feedback. Avoid ending with a menu of unrelated requests. The recording should leave one idea in their head.
